I met J.K. Rowling and we talked about Severus Snape.
I had an actual conversation with J.K. Rowling about Severus Snape.
When it was my turn to have my copy of The Casual Vacancy signed, J.K. Rowling looked up at me smiling and radiant as if she were Lady Galadriel and I said to her: “Thank you for Severus (Specifically Severus, not Snape), and for helping me to find my friends.”
Before I could even finish her face lit up and she said, “You know something told me that you were a Snape Girl!” Her eyes were sparkling and she was so happy and genuine when she said it.
I laughed and blushed a bit as I ran my hand through my shoulder length black hair and down over my long black coat and said, “Yeah I don’t know what it could, it just kind of happens!”  We both laughed, she was just so sweet and wonderful.  J.K. Rowling herself, actually called me a Snape Girl.
Feeling exhilarated I walked away to my awaiting friends who had gone first.  But then I started shaking and crying, because that was the moment that I realized the gravity of what it meant to have been to have been told that.   To be Snape… or a Snape fan in that way is difficult thing to bear for there is such a tremendous amount of vulnerability in it.    There is strength in it of course, but you must admit to a lot of sorrow and other things that only true fans of Severus Snape could understand.  And J.K. Rowling saw that in me - more so than just the hair, she looked into everyone’s eyes that night and she saw our souls.
When she looked into my eyes - and she saw Snape in me…  And as I looked into her eyes - I saw Snape in her - his Mum, it was as if I never realized just how beautiful he was - and how beautiful she was.
And now I love him that much more.  I can’t explain it in words but I do.
I just wanted to share that with everyone who genuinely loves Snape, because I know you will understand.  And I wish you could have seen the light in her eyes, and to see how she lights up when she speaks of him.
